The Minister of Secondary Education, Professor Nalova Lyonga, calls on contractors to speed-up work so as to meet-up with the execution deadline.

Professor Nalova Lyonga chaired a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, September 24 2019. This was to set up the basis for the completion of construction work on the sites of Government Technical High School Nsam and Government Technical High School Maroua. It is important to state that this project is carried out in partnership with the Islamic Development Bank (IDB)

To begin with, the Minister inquired on the level of progress of construction work on both sites. According to the report from the Department of Projects, Planning and Cooperation, the work progress rate stands at 32% for GTHS Maroua, and 36% for GTHS Nsam, respectively.

With regards to the slow progress of work, a host of problems where highlighted. These are: the lack of mobilization of enough labour at the construction sites, the lack of implementation of the recommendations given by the follow-up missions, changes in market prices of construction material, and lack of funds to ensure payment of workers and the continuity of work on the sites.

It is on this note that, the Minister made a clarion call on the contractors to outline  workable planning schedules and set-up internal deadlines for the acceleration of work on both sites and enjoined them to properly organise work so as to meet-up with the (09) nine-month deadline.
