COOPERATION
Prof. Nalova Lyonga received the African Union Commissioner, Prof. Belhocine Mohammed, on Thursday, 12 May 2022.
The nine-man delegation from the Pan-African University came to exchange with the Minister of Secondary Education on issues concerning education.

Prof. Belhocine Mohammed explained that “my visit is to talk about the education of girls and women, to get the Ministry of Secondary Education’s view on the teaching of mathematics. This, because Africa is lagging behind in the teaching of this subject and robotics is gradually taking over job profiles. We want to see how to improve the teaching capacities of mathematics teachers as well as help in equipping them. Finally, I will also like to talk about moving from traditional teaching methods to modern teaching methods with the use of technology”.

On her part, Prof. Nalova Lyonga welcomed these proposals and hoped that secondary education and the Pan-African Universities will find a common ground towards increasing visibility on the education of the girl child and the capacity building of mathematics teachers. With regards to growing from traditional to modern teaching methods, she expressed her wish for the two institutions to work together in improving MINESEC’s Distance Education Centre.

For close to 30 minutes, Professor Nalova Lyonga and her guests exchanged on how to improve secondary education to sooth the changing patterns of job profiles.
