2023 SESSION OF OFFICIAL EXAMINATIONS

The Minister of Secondary Education undertakes her Maiden Assessment Visit in 5 Accommodation Centres in Yaounde.

Secondary Education Minister, Prof Nalova Lyonga went round 5 five schools accommodating the Practical Exams for the GCE-Advanced and Ordinary Levels for 2023. This was on Thursday, 4 May 2023 in the company of Akat Fidelis Etta, Inspector General of Services and Jean Paul Marcelin Mebada, Inspector General of Education in the Ministry of Secondary Education.

Government Bilingual Technical High School Yaounde, St Benedict Catholic College, English High School, Government Bilingual High School Mendong, and Government Bilingual High School Etoug-Ebe are the five accommodation centres visited by the ministerial delegation in Yaounde. The visit was to assess the conduct of GCE Practical Examinations for the 2023 Session.

On this day, candidates for GCE-Advanced Level were having practical exams in Chemistry, while those for GCE-Ordinary Level were taking practical exams in Food and Nutrition, as well as in Tailoring and Home Economics. Prof Nalova Lyonga and her delegation checked the availability of necessary materials and equipment, paying keen attention to the functioning of various laboratories and compliance with examination standards.

For practical examinations in Chemistry, candidates were split into small groups to fit the size of the chemistry laboratory in each centre. Among the centres visited, GBHS Etoug-Ebe is the biggest accommodation centre for practical exams in Chemistry with about 626 candidates from 9 schools, while English High School hosted the greatest number of candidates for practical exams in Food and Nutrition, with 201 examinees in total from 14 schools.

At the end of the tour, Professor Nalova Lyonga expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exams at this stage and hailed all the parties involved to remain focused. “We see an excellent atmosphere. Examinations have started well and they continue to be well. We are very happy that there was no incident recorded so far”, the Minister told the media.
