This highly anticipated annual sports and cultural jamboree celebrated under the theme “School Games, a Guarantee of Peace and Sustainable Development” thrilled the inhabitants of Mokundange-Limbe. It began with the inauguration of the Games’ monument on the premises of Government High School, Limbe, and was immediately followed by the reception of the Olympic Flame, symbolizing the start of the competition in a spirit of unity amongst the ten participating regions.

Then followed the grand opening ceremony at the Limbe Omnisport Stadium on Wednesday, 3 April 2024, an event which symbolized the official start of activities. From thence, competitions kicked-off and continued every day on different stadia and playgrounds.

During this time, the evenings were reserved for educative talks. Students were drilled on salient issues such as personal development and attaining expected positive results, menstrual hygiene management, and knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI). As concerns AI, emphasis was laid on the history of the origins of AI, the three levels of usage of AI, and MINESEC’s objective of making secondary schools’ students become experts as far as the AI application is concerned

The “One athlete, one tree” initiative, with the tree planting activity, spear headed by Professor Nalova Lyonga, took place on Saturday 6, April. The campuses of GHS Batoke and GBTHS Isokolo were the selected schools where this environment conscious and sustainable activity was carried out. About three hundred (300) trees were planted, being led by the Minister of Secondary Education with her close collaborators and a delegation of 300 athletes from the ten Regions of Cameroon.

As part of the event’s recreational activities, on Sunday 7 April, participants took part in an excursion at the Seme Beach, providing them with the opportunity to unwind, enjoy the picturesque scenery and bond with one another outside the competitive arena. This was followed by a gala held at Bamboo Events Hall to celebrate the success of the entire tournament.

In a bid to promote entrepreneurship and arouse the interest of young athletes in innovation and technology, the Minister of Secondary Education, Professor Nalova Lyonga, led a group of athletes on a visit to Bobdidy Digital Enterprise, a renowned plastic manufacturing company. The visit’s aim was to let athletes see the possibility of merging sports and technology, while highlighting the importance of fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among the youth.

Mokundange-Limbe was a resounding success as the event fostered healthy competition, promoted camaraderie, educative talks, environmental awareness, and the spirit of sportsmanship among the participants.
